Recorded and co- produced by Gary Jarman of The Cribs and featuring Dana Jansen (Akron Family, Dana Buoy) on drums with guest appearances from Zach Miller (Dr. Dog), Brian Mumford, Shelley Short, Lisa Schoenberg and Dustin Shurloch (Landlines) among other Portland musicians. The album features AW’s normal lineup of Vinh Nygen (percussion), Jesse Iiams-Hauser (guitar), Brett Anderson (guitar).

Jack is perhaps best known as a band member of his brother’s band Jeffrey Lewis and the Junkyard (7 records for Rough Trade Records).

Jack says:
Here are a couple of emails my brother Jeffrey wrote me about this album. They weren't meant as liner notes, but they do the trick:
"Yr mastered album sounds very good, sounds like good mastering job as far as I can tell, the volumes match smoothly anyway. And my non-sophisticated ears hear all the frequencies just fine, though I have no idea what a fancy pair of ears would hear in the EQ or compression or whatever. It certainly sounds good just from a casual listening perspective.
Very good songs, song order, good idea to not include the Petty cover, and good idea to end with the radio play, it's a very strong and solid 38-minute album, that's a perfect length.

You'd be crazy to leave off Mexican Blanket, it's one of the only Jack Lewis songs on what should be a Jack Lewis album. Out of 11 tracks, three are songs that are 10 years old which is the same as playing a cover song, it's just covering yourself rather than writing songs. Three tracks are Diners' covers. That means out of 11 tracks less than half of them are you writing songs for your own album: Only 5 Jack Lewis songs.
That's your album, the rest of the album is just filler to pad it out to full length. The "filler" happens to be quite good, because those Diners covers are fantastic, very well done.
it's a great album, but it really looks like you've been extremely lazy about songwriting. There's absolutely no reason why you shouldn't have ten new songs on this album, and every time you write a new song it's usually really good. The Green Dots song is really great, for example. The very good songwriting on this album, like Mystery Lake and Forgotten Song, feel frustrating because it's like a tease, showing how there COULD be all these great new Jack Lewis songs if you'd just fucking sit down for 20 minutes once in a while and write a song. Ridiculous - spend two years "working on an album" and apparently about zero time writing songs, which is the most important part of any album having any real value anyway. If anything is the weak point on the album it's Career Counsellor because I've never liked your tendency to use "doo-wop parody" as a song structure, but still, Career Counsellor is good, really good recording, and it should be on this record.
The album's done, it's great, now write ten new songs!"

Jack Lewis was born and raised on the Lower East Side of NYC, but has been making Portland, Oregon his home since 2006.
